Aging is Beautiful

“The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes.” ~ Frank Lloyd Wright

Doesn’t it seem crazy to try to be something you are not? We spend so much time, effort and money trying to be something different. As the clock turns, something beautiful happens: We become more comfortable in our own skin. We don’t care as much (or at all) about what others are thinking about us. We are more thoughtful and caring because we are not as focused on the external.

As we age, we become wiser. We know that true beauty comes from within. We know who we are and who we are not. We want to be free from restriction. We enjoy stillness, laughter, friendship, food, comfort and happiness more. We have a deeper gratitude for these things because we have endured without them in our life. We know what is important and what is not. We enjoy simplicity and marvel at nature.

Aging is beautiful. We let things soften—our hearts and our grasp on perfection. We see imperfection as our unique blueprint. The wrinkles on our face are our tattoos of life: joy, sorrow, contemplation and more. We find our voice. We don’t try to change who we are to please someone else. We let life flow through us. We are our own expression and that is beautiful.
