Heart center

"Dig deep, the water-goodness is down there. And as long as you keep digging, it will keep bubbling up." ~Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

In yoga we talk about finding your “true north” which is an internal compass that successfully guides you through life. It is your fixed point in a spinning world. In stoic philosophy it’s your “logos”. This is an energy that the world is organized in a rational and coherent way. Your logos is directing you down the right path. You may refer to it as “finding your way” or being connected with your “heart center”. Our minds are cluttered with thoughts but, you see, underneath those thoughts is just you – your true self. Simple and open.

When I was little, my dad and I loved to eat artichokes together. We would sit and enjoy leaf by leaf the unwrapping of this mysterious vegetable. We knew that enjoying each moment along the way would lead us to the heart.

Focus today on unwrapping your layers. Let go of the thoughts that aren’t serving you. Open your heart and remember that behind the clouds is always a blue sky.
